Katy Shina

Originally from Brisbane, Australia, Katy developed a deep appreciation for Japanese culture and traditional arts, which led her to study abroad in Japan and eventually build her career here. After the 2011 earthquake, she relocated from Hokkaido to Iwate, where she fell in love with Tohoku’s unique culture, vibrant performing arts, stunning natural beauty, and the resilience and kindness of its people. Frustrated by how little of this is known to foreign visitors, Katy became passionate about promoting Tohoku tourism. She specializes in developing travel experiences from a foreigner’s perspective and offers on-the-ground guiding to help others discover the region’s hidden treasures.
